Use the Export Metadata window to export metadata from Data Warehouse Center objects to a tag language file. You might want to export a tag language file to import metadata into another Data Warehouse Center system.
If you export a process, you might export a large volume of metadata. When you export a process, the following objects are exported with it:
All steps that are contained within a process. You cannot export individual steps.
The agent site for the process.
Any user-defined programs that are associated with steps in the process
Internal objects that are required by the Data Warehouse Center such as notification warehouse groups.
Schedule information for processes and steps. You can choose not to export this information.
Any warehouse source or warehouse target definitions that are used by the process and underlying steps. You can choose not to export the warehouse source table definitions.
Any other processes and steps whose output is used by the process that is being exported.
If you export a warehouse source or warehouse target, all table definitions in a selected warehouse source or warehouse are exported.
If you select a program group, all program definitions within that group are exported.
If you export a warehouse schema, all table definitions within that schema are exported.
Requirement: Do not use the export function to migrate from a previous version of the Data Warehouse Center. You must always import and export tag language files using the same version of the Data Warehouse Center. For information about migrating from a previous version of the Data Warehouse Center, see DB2 UDB Quick Beginnings.
To export a tag language file:
Specify the tag language file to which you want to export the metadata. You can:
Use the default tag language file shown in the file name field.
On NT systems, the file is written to the path and directory from which you invoke the DB2 UDB Control Center. If you do not have write-access to that directory (for example, if the Control Center is installed on a network drive), the file is written to the home path and directory specified by your NT environment variable, usually the C-drive and root directory.
On AIX system, the file is written to the path and directory from which you invoke the Data Warehouse Center. If you do not have write access to that directory, the file is written to your home directory.
Type a path and file name. The Data Warehouse Center attaches the appropriate extension automatically
Click
to open a window that you can use to view the available files to
which you can export and select one.
In the Available objects list, select the objects that you want to export and click >. The object is displayed in the Selected objects list. Repeat this step for all objects you want to export.
If you want to export all available objects in a tree, click >>. The objects are displayed in the Selected objects list. If a node on the tree does not contain objects within it, it is not moved.
If you do not want to export all definitions of warehouse sources, tables, and columns that are related to exported steps, clear the Export dependent source properties check box .
If you do not want to export schedule information related to the processes that you are exporting (this includes steps and processes related through task flow and notification), clear the Include schedules check box .
Click OK.
The Export Information window opens and displays a message that tells you if the export process completed successfully. If errors occurred, the Export Metadata window remains open so you can try and the export procedure again. You can find more information about a particular error message in the DB2 UDB Message Reference.
