• Operating System Concepts, 8th Edition (Updated). Silberschatz, Galvin, and Gagne. John Wiley and Sons, 2012 (6th, 7th, or 8th editions are also fine).
• Several copies on reserve in the DC library for 3 hour loan.

• Assemblers, Linkers and the SPIM simulator.
  This provides excellent information on the MIPS hardware/software interface. Including stack frames, procedure calls, exceptions, interrupts, etc.
