Team AA group of lawyers, judges and AI software developers who want to develop and adapt AI technology to assist judges in their legal decision making roles. The group believes that AI can help judges do initial research, find appropriate case law, and help write first drafts of their decisions. This would help ease the burden on judges at a time when legal resources are vastly overworked, causing some important cases to be dismissed or over looked.
Team BA group of legal experts and computer science researchers who say that AI based writing and researching skills are not sufficiently well developed or trustworthy enough for them to be used in the legal decision making process. They believe that the judges, and their legal teams, should be the ones doing the case research and writing the opinions, in order to avoid the unknown biases, inaccuracies, and hallucinations that AI writing and researching technology is known for.
