Quizzes
There are five quizzes in this course, covering the material presented in-class.
What do the quizzes cover?
Quizzes can include anything discussed in lectures or labs, and each quiz typically covers two weeks worth of content. See the schedule, which lists quizzes and the content that each one covers.
When are they due?
The schedule lists each quiz deadline. You are responsible for writing and submitting each quiz before the deadline. Each quiz opens a full week before the deadline. e.g., Quiz 1 is due on Fri Sept 19. This means that it will be open from Fri Sept 12 @ 6:00 PM to Fri Sept 19 @ 6:00 PM.
How to write a quiz
Once a quiz is open, it will be available in Learn under Submit
> Quizzes
.
- Each quiz is 30 minutes in length. You are only allowed one attempt.
- Quizzes are open-book, meaning that you may refer to your notes while writing the quiz.
- Quizzes must be completed individually, without assistance. You are not permitted to collaborate or communicate with other students about the quiz content.
Extensions
We normally do not grant extensions for missed quizzes. See policies.
Grading
Quiz grades are released after the quiz closes, typically by the Monday following the deadline.
Remark requests will be considered for a full week after the grades are released. We will not consider remark requests after that deadline.
- The goal of a remark is to ensure that your quiz was graded correctly. You are not guaranteed a grade increase, and your grade may be adjusted up or down in the process of being regraded.
- Quiz questions will be graded based on material as it was presented in-class. We will not consider external materials when grading i.e., your CS 348 course notes are not relevant to a discussion of databases as discussed in this course.
