Assignments

Spring 2009

Assignments for the Spring 2009 term can be accessed through UW-ACE. UW-ACE will be available on the first day of classes.

If you are unfamiliar with zip files, please read the following instructions before downloading the files.

General Information

Assignments in CS 100 are due bi-weekly. Please check the Course Schedule to confirm assignment due dates. Assignments consist of three parts:A, B and C.

Part A - Multiple Choice

Part A tests material from the textbook reading and the labs using multiple-choice questions.

Part B - Short Answer

Part B consists of practical questions that require you to use the computer to create or edit files. These questions give you a chance to practice the skills you learned in your lab.

Part C - Applying Your New Skills and Learning New Features

Part C is included only in Assignments 3-6. Part C requires the submission of (at least) one file that applies the knowledge from the labs and textbook readings in a file you create. Furthermore, you will be expected to learn two (or more) features of the application not covered in the course.

Again, each file will be saved using your initials and a hand-in code. For example, Jane Nancy Smith's file for Part C of Assignment 3 would be jnsA3C1.html.

Assignment Submission

Once you have completed all components of the assignment, you will need to go to UW-ACE to submit your files and multiple choice. You will log on with your Quest username and password.

To submit your mulitple choice for Part A, you will click on the appropriate link in the Multiple Choice Submission folder to start the quiz file.

To upload a file (for Parts B and C), select the correct drop-box in UW ACE, which can be accessed by selecting the Assignment File Submission folder.

Both folders are located in the Course Materials tab in UW ACE.
