Prepare for Demos
Prepare for Demos
Demos run approximately every three weeks, and serve as an opportunity to show your TA your progress and receive feedback. This section describes the demo format.
Demo 1: Proposal
Your first demo is your project “pitch”, where you present your project idea to your TA. The format of the proposal demo:
- You will walk through the presentation (5-10 mins).
- Show your TA your product screens, in support of the presentation.
- Discuss the project timeline, which features you will deliver first (5 mins).
Demo 2-3: Iterations
These demos should proceed as follows:
- Restate your high-level goals for the sprint were. Summarize what you met/didn’t meet.
- Bring up the issue list for your demo (i.e. this milestone). Show which issues were resolved and closed, and which are still outstanding. Discuss why they are outstanding.
- Each person should demonstrate what they delivered i.e. features, unit tests, designs. Each person must present their own work; you cannot have a single person driving the entire demo.
- Discuss what is outstanding, and how you are scheduling the remaining work. Discuss if anything needs to be adjusted or dropped from scope.
Plan on recording meeting minutes for the demo, and write down what happened, what feedback you received. You are responsible for tracking and addressing feedback.
Demo 4: Complete
This is your final demo. You are expected to have your product complete at this time.
- Restate your high-level goals for the sprint were. Summarize what you will not complete.
- Bring up the issue list for your demo (i.e. this milestone). Show which issues were resolved and closed.
- Each person should demonstrate what they delivered i.e. features, unit tests, designs. Each person must present their own work; you cannot have a single person driving the entire demo.
You should plan on walking through the entire feature list in this demo. This is the final build that will be graded.
